A Shot at Glory (2000)

The best thing this movie had going for it was Robert Duvall. He is just so good in everything. In this movie he plays Gordon McCloud, team manager of a second tier Scottish team. The owner, American Peter Cameron (Michael Keaton), wants to improve the team and then move them to Dublin, where he can make more money. Cameron signs Jackie McQuillan (played by ex-soccer player Ally McCoist), who was once a great player, but is now more renowned for his wild life style.

Gordon is understandably upset because Jackie is his son-in-law, and also father of his grand son. The movie moves along as Gordon, his daughter and Jackie try to work things out, on and off the field.

The film features the fictional Scottish football club Kilnockie, as they attempt to reach their first Scottish Cup Final. The final game is against Rangers.

The film is loosely based on underdog Raith Rovers' 1994 season and Scottish League Cup win against Celtic.
