She's the Man (2006)

When Viola's high school soccer team gets disbands because of a lack of interest, she takes her twin brother Sebastian's place on the crosstown rival team. Her brother is in Europe playing with his band and Viola thinks she can dress and act like a boy and pull it off.
She gets herself into a lot of difficult situations. When the team is going shirts and skins she tells the coach she ia allergic to the sun. When she is part of a team hazing, she pulls the fire alarm when the newbies are being made to take off their clothes.
Viola, acting like a boy, just makes her roommate Duke and his friends uncomfortable. They think he is a loser geek. Viola is pretty funny as she tries to imitate male jock mannerisms. To become more popular with his mates he has some girl friends dress up and come flirt with him at the local hangout. Viola acts like the typical male chauvinist pig and gains new respect from his teammates. When he shoots down Sebastian's real girlfriend in front of everyone, he becomes the local legend.
Thinks get complicated when Olivia, who Duke loves, falls for Viola. Viola in the meantime falls for Duke. And Sebastian who has no idea what is going on comes home from London. All the time Viola continues to work hard on the field as she fights for a starting position.
Viola, as Sebastian, starts giving Duke advice on dating his sister, Viola. Duke, who is really a good guy, starts to fall for Viola. Olivia, trying to make Sebastian (Viola) jealous starts flirting with Duke, which gets Viola jealous. Sound confusing but it all kind of works. The last third of the movie was pretty weak, but overall still pretty good. And the music was really good.
Vinnie Jones, who was a tough guy in English Premier League Soccer, was really good in a small role as Coach Dinklage.
Light, goofy, likeable and kind of cute teen flick, if you like that kind of movie. I was surprised, but I liked it. On Rotten Tomatoes only 44% of the critics likes it but 80% of the Audience did. I think it's the kind of movie critics are afraid to say they liked because it really is a piece of fluff. But, you know what? It is pretty good fluff. And how many movies out there today are actually OK for teens to see?
